Sydney's Centenary Trophy
On 27th October 2017 one of our honorary members will be 100 years of age and on Monday 30th October Poultwood Golf Club are arranging a competition to celebrate this great achievement.
Sydney Simmons was a member of Lamberhurst Golf Club and an Engineer and Surveyor to Tonbridge Urban District Council. He was instrumental in the purchase of the site of our 18 hole Golf Course and oversaw construction of the course and club house with the Architect, Fred Hawtree.
In June 1974 Sydeney Simmons and Barbara Penruddocke, the last Chairman of the TUDC, opened the Course. He was the first Mens Captain, Committee Chairman, President and Honorary Member.
This will be a drawn competition. There wil be a complimentary buffet in the bar when prizes will be presented and we are hoping Sydney will be able to attend.
The sign up sheet is in the foyer at the Golf Club on the Mens Board, please add your name if you would like to play on the 30th October. This will be an early start as it will probably be a shot gun start.
